DESCRIPTION: Buddha reclining on his right side with his head supported (Parinibbana).

Usually interpreted as the Buddha creating the illusion of being a giant or giving his last sermon before death.

PERIOD: 19th century
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Mandalay, Burma

CONSTRUCTION: Wood
RARITY AND CONDITION: Extremely rare, good condition, some possible cleaning / restoration,
expected day to day wear (see photos)

PROVENANCE: Acquired from a Burmese collector

EVALUATION APPRAISAL: A very distinctive item of superior quality. A bit of weathering in places but not enough to detract from the overall exceptional quality
