3. The Throne of Amitabha Buddha In the mandala of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, the peacock is the vehicle or throne-bearer for Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light. Amitabha represents the transmutation of the poison of desire and attachment into the "Wisdom of Discernment." Just as a peacock displays its feathers for all to see, Amitabha’s boundless compassion welcomes all beings into his Pure Land.
